App description by DailyRoads
Recording road videos since 2009, DailyRoads Voyager works as a car blackbox, dash cam or auto DVR, continuously capturing videos and photos during your journeys. The app automatically records everything, but only important events are retained for future reference or as evidence. You get to choose what to keep, simply by touching the screen, even while you drive.
The video evidence can be invaluable in case of accidents, insurance fraud, police abuse, protection from crash-for-cash scams and differences of opinion with other drivers.
Key features:
- Continuous video recording, with user-defined length and video quality; sound can be included
- User-defined storage space on the SD card with cyclic recording; i.e. the card never fills up
- One-touch video protection allows you to keep video files for interesting road events during the whole journey
- Auto-protect video upon sudden shock (e.g. accident); configurable g-force sensitivity
- Automatically capture photos at user-defined intervals and resolutions; great for time-lapse photography
- Background video/photo capture, with optional buttons over other applications
- Auto start and shutdown based on car dock detection and related options
- Videos/photos are timestamped & geotagged
- Automatically determine street address of protected videos/photos
- Display videos/photos location on a map
- Display speed, elevation, timestamp and GPS coordinates on videos/photos
- Option to change speed units (km/h, mph) and date format
- Overheating protection
- GPS can be disabled to reduce power consumption
- Brightness adjustment option allows less distraction when driving at night
- Built-in file manager, video/photo browser
- Add title/description/bookmark to files

After seeing local drivers pull some stupid, stupid moves, I felt it was best to have a dashcam running all the time. I tried a dashcam I purchased online, only to find it was an extremely cheap build quality and wasn't functional at all. The controls and ease of starting the recording process + retaining videos with this app, is better than any dashcam experience I've had thus far. The video 'maintenance' from the app, the ability to quickly retain videos, and the ease of starting/stopping recording make the transition in and out of the vehicle, as quick and easy as possible. I think using NFC tags is the only thing that could make the start/stop recording easier. I love how the rest of the device continues to function - e.g. incoming calls, etc. I'm not sure if it's an odd request, but it seems a few others have asked for this as well. It would be great if the screen could be totally disable when recording, or the brightness dimmed all the way down. I deal with this manually now and will be using NFC tags + a task app. to handle the rest. Great app and I recommend it to everyone I know who's even mildly interesting in recording from their dash.
Before trying this one, I tried various other dashcam apps on my present as well as old phones. I was disappointed with them - some resulted in overheating, some didn't have features, some just crashed. I was about to give up when I tried DailyRoads Voyager. I can say without hesitation that this is the best dashcam app I have tested. Works beautifully even in not so capable phones. Never crashed even once. Has extensive settings to configure your app as per your needs. Just go for it.
Having tried practically every other dashcam app, DailyRoads Voyager is far superior to the competition. The video resolution is superb, and the application is highly configurable to differing user requirements. I previously experienced issues with the application crashing when making or receiving phone calls, but having ensured that the Android Developer Option to erase traces of apps on exit is deselected, this hasn't been a problem.
Best app like this out there. Parked at a Jack n Box went in and forgot the app was still running on dash. Boom heard a crash. Noticed app was still running so looked back on video and wow. A minivan would have hit my vehicle head on if it were not for a ditch. Glad I was in in vehicle to see that. This app always on when driving.
This thing is awesome! This is great, I'm using an old android phone I just had sitting in a drawer, now i have my own fraud deterrent! Way to go DR team! I love how customizable it is. i just figured out how to change the video storage limit to use almost my entire phone. This is exactly what i was looking for, thank you.
Really good app. Love the functionality. Footage quality is obviously dependant on you phones camera. Who needs a dash cam if you have this app. Works great in dual app screen mode on a Samsung so you can have maps and camera running on screen at the same time.
