Here are some reviews about this Android fitness to give you an idea how other people evaluate it.

The three negative reviews I've seen are either due to a bug that I haven't experienced, so it may have been fixed, or due to a misunderstanding of the app. One person is upset because they think the developers are using users to build their business for them. I found this funny because the same person probably uses MyFitnessPal instead of OpenFoodFacts due to this complaint. In reality, MyFitnessPal is exploiting its users for profit by data harvesting and using them to add new products to their database. OFF is non profit and open source, offering an alternative to MFP that isn't taking advantage of its users. Another person is upset because nothing they are scanning is in OFF's database. This is because OFF is less mature and polished compared to MFP, which is oftentimes the case when comparing open source and proprietary alternatives. OFF describes itself as the Wikipedia of food, and Wikipedia requires contributing people to accumulate knowledge. This person had a product that probably had a nutrition label on it. He could have used 5 minutes to contribute to OFF, but instead decided to write a review. If you take OFF for what it is, you won't have any complaints. And if you do have some complaints, the beauty of open source software is that you can contribute to the project and help fix any shortcomings you come across.
A nice simple app that works as stated. Although there is not a lot of product information that is due to the collaborative nature of Open Food Facts. I love the concept of Open Food Facts, it's the food equivalent of open streetmap. For anyone looking at using this app then I suggest having a look at the website as that explains more on how to get involved. This app & website has lots of potential, particularly for detailing allergy information. This is something I am definitely going to look at contributing to.
