TarotBot?is an open source framework for tarot readings on Android devices with switchable card decks and interpretations.

There is also a novel interface for conducting readings the goal being to only draw from the physical artifacts (the deck of cards) those attributes which are meaningful to the reading: imagery, interpretations, and context. The traditional shuffling, dealing, and arranging of the cards is removed from the process providing a much more streamlined reading experience.

The interpretations are there to help anyone unfamiliar with tarot. ?They are a synthesis of my experience and research conducted during development. ?My primary research sources include:

The deck included is a?vintage Rider-Waite deck with artwork by?Pamela Coleman Smith, as scanned by?Holly Voley
The default (and currently the only) reading is based on the reading described in the book The Oracle of the Tarot by Paul Foster Case. The basic process works like this:

1. A significator card is chosen based upon a birth date, sex and relationship status
2. The full tarot deck is shuffled
3. The deck is cut in half
4. Each resulting deck is then cut in half
5. Which ever deck contains the significator is then dealt in a circle

6. Starting with the significator, some number of cards around the circle is counted (the number counted depends on which significator is used)
7. The card landed on is the next card in the reading
8. Starting with the last card of the reading, some number of cards around the circle is counted (the number counted depends on the previously landed on card)
9. Steps 7 and 8 are repeated until the same card is landed on twice
10. If this last card is the significator it means the reading is particularly personal, otherwise the last card is the most significant card of the reading
