How does Blokada works?
The app blocks any requests towards blacklisted hosts which can be defined in filters. This way your device is prevented from downloading unwanted content. Blokada has huge database with hosts known for serving ads, tracking, spam, malware, and other unwanted or dangerous content. You can rely on these automatically updated filters or configure Blokada with your own custom filters and whitelists.
Can Blokada see my private content?
No. Blokada is build with privacy concerns in mind and does not access your private information. Its only interaction with your device is monitoring requests to certain hosts and blocking the ones matching preset filters. The app can access only your unencrypted traffic and you get notification for every new blocked host.
Why isn't Blokada available on Play Store?
This is due to the fact that Google's business model is based on ads to make revenue. Because of this Google does not allow Blokada to be listed in its fully featured version on Play Store. The version available there only allows changing the DNS service. But don't worry because you can download Blokada on Android Freeware.
Does Blokada drain battery?
While I used Blokada for blocking ads I didn't notice any significant difference in my battery. I was using it on Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro for about 5 days. The overall performance of my phone boosted since there was no ads loaded, while the battery usage remained the same.
