DeBurrow
DeBurrow is a modern, native Android client for the Gopher protocol — the pre-web, text-first way to browse Gopherspace. Built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
Features:
- Browse Gopher menus, read text files, and view images
- ANSI-color and word-wrapping text viewer — colored .ansi art renders in color, with a one-tap toggle to no-wrap for fixed-width maps and tables
- Veronica / type-7 search with a query prompt and tappable results
- Address-bar navigation, bookmarks, browse history, and search history
- Downloads for binary items, response caching, and TLS (gophers://)
- Opens gopher:// and gophers:// links from other apps, even while running
- Material 3 theming and an adaptive (and Android 13 themed) launcher icon
No accounts, no trackers, no ads. Free and open source (MIT).
DeBurrow is a modern evolution of Pocket Gopher, a 2010 J2ME client by Felix Pleșoianu, with parsing code and ideas by Nuno J. Silva.
