WhisperType is a full Android input method (IME) with a real QWERTY keyboard plus offline voice dictation.
Unlike dictation-only “keyboards” that only show a microphone button, WhisperType lets you type normally and use speech when you want.

Setup:
- Install WhisperType
- Enable it in system keyboard settings
- Select it as the input method
- Grant microphone permission
- Download a speech model in settings
- Type or tap the mic to dictate
On-device recognition uses the free/open ONNX Runtime. The Apache-2.0 Whisper model is downloaded on demand from a pinned Hugging Face revision and verified before installation.
