Note that by default the weapon shoots automatically in Simple mode. Use the Advanced mode to activate the old school manual firing method, which in my humble opinion is way more productive.

Don't forget to add advanced scopes to your snipers or upgrade weapons in your arsenal. This way any weapon you intend to use will be at its full killing potential.
