Episteme Reader PDF Readers app for Android description

Episteme Reader is an offline-first application designed for reading various document formats. It leverages native Android technologies and C++ libraries to provide a performant reading experience with customization capabilities.

Features:

Documents: View PDF, Markdown (MD), TXT, and HTML files.
E-books: Read EPUB, MOBI, and AZW3 files using native parsing.
PDF Modes: Vertical Scroll and Paginated views.
Annotations: Draw directly on pages (ink, highlighter, eraser) or add text notes.
Customization: Adjust font size, margins, and import custom fonts (.ttf, .otf).
Organization: Built-in library management and Text-to-Speech (TTS) support.

This is a completely free and open-source (OSS) app built natively using Jetpack Compose.

What's new in v1.0.58-oss

EPUB 3 Media Overlays: Added support for pre-recorded publisher narration with synchronized text highlighting in both paginated and vertical reading modes.
Dedicated Narration Controls: Added a playback bar for EPUB narration with play/pause, passage navigation, a passage counter, and playback speed controls.
Redesigned Home Screen & Icon: Introduced a new app icon and established the redesigned Library Beta as the primary home screen.
Improved Read-Aloud (TTS) Tracking: Enhanced sentence tracking accuracy during text-to-speech to eliminate highlight drifting, and resolved start-position issues in web views.
Translucent Highlights: Added full ARGB support for custom highlight colors, allowing transparent colors to display correctly without turning opaque.
Smoother PDF Annotations: Optimized PDF annotation saving to stream in the background rather than freezing the interface.
Dynamic Theming: In-app icons now automatically repaint to match the active app theme.
