Ezhuthola (എഴുത്തോല, the palm-leaf manuscript) is a free, open-source Malayalam keyboard. It asks for no permissions at all, not even internet, so nothing you type ever leaves your phone. No ads, no accounts, no tracking.
Malayalam (Manglish)
- Type in English letters and get Malayalam: njan → ഞാൻ, adipoli → അടിപൊളി
- Its own transliteration engine, written from scratch
- Word suggestions ranked by how often Malayalam words are really used
- Word forms with endings: keralathil → കേരളത്തിൽ
- Learns your words: the spellings you pick come first next time
- English words in Malayalam mode are written the Malayali way: four → ഫോർ, station → സ്റ്റേഷൻ
English
- Word suggestions and completion
- Autocorrect, with backspace to undo it
- Knows chat words like bro, tbh and ngl, and leaves your Manglish alone
- A Missing words list in settings shows words it doesn't know yet, so you can add them
